We started the day at Estephanie's family's home since we were going to do a "day after" session with her and Brett. Unfortunately there was just to much rain so we had to put it off for a day.

I remember the day well when we got a call from Estephanie asking us to capture her wedding in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We were so excited to do our first destination wedding. Estephanie & Brett were amazing to us. Their family took us in as family and they showed us around the island and taught us about the culture there. We had such a great time getting to know Estephanie and Brett as well as exploring a new place that we would now love to go back to sometime!

Brett was blind-folded for the garter...Estephanie first sat in the chair and then as Brett was getting started to take it off she switched places with one of the groomsmen wearing pantyhose and Brett then proceeded to take the garter unknowingly off his groomsmen with his teeth. He was utterly shocked once the blindfold came off and his buddy was sitting in the chair. Everyone thought this was hilarious...good times!

Saturday we captured Jessica & Allen's wedding at Maple Leaf Events in Stevenson, WA. We had so much fun with this couple capturing their wedding in the Columbia River Gorge. Jessica was such an amazing bride who didn't mind the crazy rain or standing outside in the freezing cold. Jessica only cared about one thing on this special day. Jessica was all caught up in her new husband. Their first look was such a beautiful thing. I thought we were going to have to pry them apart. As they saw each other for the first time that morning they just wanted to wrap up in each other and hold on tight. It was great to see this couple so in love with each other and enjoying every second of their big day together!

Even though it was raining we drove across the Bridge of the Gods into Oregon to get some pictures. Just as we pulled into the parking lot the rain let up...it didn't let up for long though as it started coming down hard shortly after we got started with pictures. At one point we thought their umbrella was going to carry them away when the wind picked up.

I love seeing the traditions of different families or friends and below is one that I had never seen before.

After the wedding we drove to the Vista House and on the entire drive it just poured down rain. But as we were pulling up to the parking lot...no more rain!

Gillian & Jesse met at Reed College...the same place they got married. Gillian was referred to Jesse by a friend to ask some questions about linguistics. Jesse happened to be the man with the answers, but had a question of his own. During their Q&A session she flirted with him and he didn't notice and he flirted with her and she didn't notice, but she did notice when he asked her out on a date. They knew Reed College would be the perfect place to get married since that is where their love grew and flourished. Below are some images from their wedding.

Jennifer & Adam were high school sweethearts who took their love to Oregon State University as well and dated all throughout college and are now lifelong die hard Beaver fans! After eight years of courtship in 2008 just three days before Christmas when a really bad snowstorm came Adam had a question to ask of Jennifer. And the way he asked was brilliant!

Because of the bad snowstorm Jennifer came home early from work. Adam met her at the door and said "I made you a surprise." He then led Jennifer to the back door where she could see that he had built her a snowman. At first she was a little upset because they were suppose to build one together. But he assured her this one was specifically for her and she should go take a closer look. So upon walking up to the snowman and inspecting him, she saw that in the snowman's little stick hand was a ring. Adam then took the ring into his own hand, got down on a knee and proceeded to tell Jennifer everything she meant to him and how he wanted nothing more in life then to spend the rest of it with her.

Right afterwords they took a couple reenactment pictures of the proposal and channel 12 news ran the story four different times that day. Talk about an announcement to friends and family!

Michele & Paul met through mutual friends at Oregon State University. From that day on they were pretty much inseparable. Even though they were madly in love they both wanted to accomplish a few things first before they got married. Over ten years they made it through college, dental school, MAT program and moving to Bethel, Alaska together!

After their ninth year together Paul proposed on the beach at sunset just after a romantic picnic together. Its one of those memories that just couldn't get any better. They spent a lot of time at the Oregon Coast throughout their relationship so it made for the perfect place to get engaged and then to get married.

Natasha & Kyle were married at DeLille Cellars in Redmond, WA. It was the perfect place for this couple. In Natasha's last year of college she went and studied abroad in Italy for six months. Halfway through the semester Kyle came to visit and they went to London together. After several days exploring London they went to Windsor Castle and as they walked out of the castle there was a beautiful snowfall in the night. Kyle dropped to a knee and in a magically felt moment he proposed to Natasha. DeLille Cellars provided what was a very Italian Tuscun Vineyard feel that brought them back to Italy. The food was absolutely tremendous. The wedding was catered by Tom Douglas.

Papa John's in known for their great pizza...but in Jessie & Brandon's case it is remembered as the place they met the love of their life. As Jessie would take the orders and toss them back to Brandon to finish there was a chemistry that began to build. That chemistry really sparked as they started hanging out away from work and ended up together in a game of paintball. From that day forward their love only grew stronger and stronger over the next four years. After being blissfully happy for even knowing Brandon, Jessie was ecstatic to finally be able to can Brandon her fiancee after he proposed on Valentine's Day. Now Jessie and Brandon get to call each other husband and wife and are happier then they ever knew possible.

We had a great time with the kids of Faith Bible High School as we brought our photo booth to their Winter Formal at The Ballroom Dance Company in Tigard, OR. There was a line all night and each person behind the curtain showed their creativity as they all had a great time coming up with new poses and goofing off with their friends. ROCHELLE & ADAM'S WEDDING...LEBANON, OR

It all began when they were little kids in elementary school. As Rochelle ran around the playground in pigtails she couldn't escape Adam's attention. Around the neighborhood Rochelle would ride her bike by Adam's house. Adam had the biggest crush, but couldn't work up the nerve to let Rochelle know. It wasn't until high school that Adam took the risk of asking Rochelle out and it has payed off to be the biggest reward of his life.

Seven years after they started dating back in high school they took a trip to Seattle. They went out for a romantic dinner at Palominos then they went to the top of the Space Needle. Once they reached the top the nervousness that accompanied Adam as a kid wanting to tell Rochelle that he liked her was back. He fought through the nerves to ask over the beautiful skyline if she would be his wife. She answered with a joyful and resounding yes bringing her back to her childhood day of pigtails dreaming of prince charming. She had found him and they were now going to spend the rest of their lives together happily ever after.

Adam and Rochelle got married in Lebanon, OR at The Ranch on Beaver Creek. They had a beautiful outdoor wedding in a country setting. One of their favorite parts of their big day was the first look. Rochelle will forever remember Adam's first words to her as he turned around and saw her for the first time in her wedding dress. His eyes widened, a large smile stretched across his face and he said, "wow...you look smokin hot!" Their wedding was a perfect way to celebrate their first ten years together and the beginning of the rest of their lives.

STORM IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN

It has been almost a year since Amy and I made the trip down the coast on highway 101 and I am still blogging about it. Here are a few images I took just as a storm was rolling in. It turned dark, rain started falling hard from the sky and the wind was howling. It was a beautiful sight as I walked out onto the edge of a cliff to get these shots.

CUBS vs MARINERS...SEATTLE, WA

So this was the third game of the series between the Cubs and Mariners this summer. The game lasted 13 innings and the Cubs ended up winning 3-2. Around the second inning I thought I was seeing an illusion. I thought I saw Golden Tate, former Notre Dame football player and current Seattle Seahawks wide receiver walk right past me. After a double take I realized that Golden Tate really was sitting exactly two rows right in front of me. Wow...Golden Tate...one of my favorite football players of all time right in front of me. I know I am a huge dork, but I gave him a business card because I have several images of him when he played at Notre Dame that I thought he might like to see...after looking at the business card he looked over at his girlfriend, then he leaned in and whispered...if I ever get married I will give you a call. Well I will be waiting for the call!!!!! Below are a few images from the game:

We took Elizabeth & Matthew's engagement photos in the Columbia River Gorge. It was a beautiful evening and we had a great couple to work with. Amy and I got married at Bridal Veil Lakes in the gorge and it was great to be back. Seeing Liz and Matt made me think of when Amy and I were engaged. We just couldn't wait to get married...every day we had to wait was a day to long. That is probably why we were only engaged for three months before we tied the knot! She wore a locket with her grandparents picture in it. What a great way of incorporating your past loved ones into your big day.

Krisha had all her bridesmaids sign the bottom of her shoes.

Instead of getting a regular garter...use one that means something to you.

I love this one...Johnny Cash is my all time favorite singer! On each table at the reception was a framed quote from Johnny Cash or his wife June Carter Cash. Loved that!

This is a very unique way of doing a guest book and they have will always have it to hang on their wall and be reminded of their big day.

Troy gave all his groomsmen a cigar as a present along with personalized cufflinks.

Following the wedding everyone was invited out to the beach for a bonfire/firework show.

It is the night before Taylor & Josh's big day tomorrow. They are tying the knot in Dallas at "Off The Grid." We feel so privileged that they have chosen us and flown us down to capture their wedding.

For the last two days we have had great BBQ, sweet tea and tonight we took a break from editing to stop by the Texas State Fair for just a bit. If you want something fried then that is the place to be. What was on the menu? Fried butter, fried cookie dough, fried Coke, fried Twinkies, fried pb&j, fried margaritas, fried donkey tails and the list goes on and on. As tempting as it was I tried none of it...maybe next time.

Danielle went to Pike's Place Market this morning to pick out her flowers and make her own bouquet. She also had some awesome blue shoes to wear on her big day!

Since Danielle had such cool shoes she let each one of her bridesmaids take pictures with their favorite shoes!

Brian has to give the peace sign in like every picture! It kinda drives Danielle crazy...but she gave in for this pic! lol

BEN...SENIOR PORTRAITS...SEATTLE, WA

We were in downtown Seattle as we just got done meeting with a couple and we had Ben on the phone. We were talking to Ben to try to determine if it was raining to much to take his senior portraits. As we were talking the truth came out...it wasn't that it was raining to much...it was that he didn't want to miss any of the Seahawks game. I knew right away I was going to like Ben. As we left the roar of the Searhawks stadium we drove a few miles to Ben's house where the game was on and John Carlson just scored a touchdown. With the Seahawks taking the lead we made quick trip to the beach and captured Ben's senior portraits. We made the session quick for Ben so he could get back and finish watching Golden Tate and the Seahawks take care of business.

Krisha & Troy had an amazing celebration of their love. Their wedding was special, personal and lots of fun. From the moment we entered the beach house they had for the weekend they invited us in and treated us like family. They put such a personal touch on their wedding it was an unmistakeably meaningful day shared with the closest of family and friends. As Amy and I drove away from the coast we felt as if we had shared the day with our new friends and family.

It was last summer that we first met Danielle and Brian at a wedding we were capturing for their friend. Brian did the catering for the wedding and it was some great BBQ! You should definitely check out his business, Taste of Honey Bar-Bee Q.

We noticed Danielle and Brian on the dance floor that night having such a great time and just being lost in each other. We were so excited to get a call from Danielle asking us to capture her wedding. It won't be long now as they are getting married on 10.10.10.

CUBS vs MARINERS...SEATTLE, WA

This summer the Chicago Cubs came to Seattle for a three game series in an inter-league matchup verse the Seattle Mariners. The first game of the series went about as well as the Cubs season has all year long. The Mariner's won 2-0. Below are some pictures of the first game.

COLE'S ONE YEAR OLD!

Part of what makes our job so great are the people we get to meet. We captured Tiffany and Franklin's wedding awhile back and this summer they asked us to take their son Cole's "One Year" pictures. It is such a blessing to be able to see this family grow and to see what great parents they have become. Cole is such an adorable kid and he was a great model for us. It was great to you guys again Tiffany and Franklin. Thanks for entrusting us to capture such precious memories for you!

HAPPY 2nd ANNIVERSARY!!!!!

It was three years ago this month that I was so incredibly nervous as I knocked on her door for our first date. We met while I was umpiring a softball game that she had been playing. I was sitting in her dugout before the game had started and I noticed her as she was warming up. She was so beautiful, how could I not notice her. She walked into the dugout and asked me if I was already choosing sides. Nervous as could be I said, "looks like I choose the right side." We didn't talk again after that game for a couple of months. I was afraid I might never see her again as I thought about her often. Finally I saw her again...this time as I was playing softball she arrived early for her game and sat under a tree all by herself watching our game. I just couldn't let her slip away again. This might be hard to believe, but I had never asked a girl out on a date before so you can imagine how terribly hard this was for me. In the middle of our game while we were batting I went over and sat down right next to her and before the inning was over I had her phone number. Only later did I find out she had a slight concussion from a flag football game that she had just came from. I guess that was lucky for me because I don't think she would have had any interest in me if she was in her right mind!

It took less then a year before we were married and as of September 14th we have been married for two years. Being married to Amy is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Not a day goes by that I don't thank God for bringing her into my life. Everything about life and everything in life is just better with her by my side. We literally spend almost every second of our lives together and it still just isn't enough time. Amy is the love of my life...the love I have always dreamed of and I am so glad that I get to spend the rest of my life with such an amazing person that is just perfect for me. I love you Amy!

IDEA'S FROM MICHELLE & RYAN'S WEDDING

Sometimes there just isn't enough parking at the wedding venue site. Especially when you are at a church in a residential neighborhood or downtown where there are no parking lots available. This was the scenario for Michelle & Ryan's wedding. They got married at St. Francis Catholic Church in Portland, OR. Short on parking spots for their guests they rented a bus to take their guests from the reception venue to their wedding venue. The guests had a blast riding together and maybe meeting someone new they didn't know. The neat part about the bus they rented was that it was a school bus. It had plenty of room for everybody and made several trips bringing "bus loads" of people. I am not sure the exact company that they used, but here is a link to a company that has school bus rentals for your event.

ERIKA & COLLIN...SNEAK PEEK

"I was blown away by that wedding!" Those where the words I heard as we walked into the reception from the wedding ceremony. It's not that the wedding wasn't mind blowing...but I think the guest was actually being quite literal. Erika & Collin got married at Otter Crest on the Oregon Coast on a bluff overlooking the ocean. It was a very windy day. The flowers they had kept blowing over, before everyone took their seats they were even blown over by the wind. During the ceremony Erika's veil was long and was blowing straight up in the air, behind her, then it would whip around and hit Collin in the face. During their vows they both promised not to take life to seriously and that is exactly what we have always seen from them. They know how to enjoy life and most importantly enjoy each other. A lot of people would have been upset that not everything was exactly perfect...but Erika and Collin were just thrilled to be looking into each others eyes and committing their lives to each other. I don't think they would have cared if it was pouring down rain, snow or anything else. They were just glad to be together and celebrating their big day. It was difinately a day to be "blown away." Blown away by their love, friendship and laughter!

As we drove further south we saw as many Redwoods as we could until it was sunset and then we found a beach to watch the sun fall beneath the ocean. What a wonderful day spent in God's beautiful creation!
